In the modern day contest, Poland is certainly a powerhouse. From two consecutive last places in 2003 and 2004, to two consecutive wins in 2018 and 2019, the nation proved that it’s possible to turn things around. Hoping to score their third win is Sara James with her song, ‘Somebody’, but is it likely to actually happen?

Song + Vocals
Poland is one of a few nations that can’t find the successful formula at Eurovision, yet nails the assignment at Junior Eurovision. This year, Poland is certainly in the mix to score their third win at the contest. From the first listen, I knew this was a contender. The song was released quite early on in the season as well, so even without hearing the competitors, I felt that Poland had all the qualities to win the contest again.
Sara is a very competent singer, perhaps one of the best this year. Her vocals are mature, and as such, suit this song perfectly. The song builds well over the three minutes, and while it doesn’t reach a huge peak, it’s still enough to create that ‘winning moment’. I really enjoy the language structure of the song. Some nations switch between languages line to line, however Poland has a clear structure. English verse, Polish chorus and vice versa. This means that viewers have the chance to understand the message of the song early on, but then still get the linguistic diversity throughout the song.
Performance + Act
I can’t say I’ve been a fan of the Polish stage performances over the last few years, so I’m hoping this breaks that trend. While I’m not too sure what to expect, what I do hope to see is a really modern costume for Sara. What I don’t want to see is a chaotic mixture of visual elements, much like ‘Anyone I Want To Be’ – a visual performance burnt into my brain for all the wrong reasons.
Conclusions
Will Poland win? I really do think it’s possible. We know she is performing early in the running order which adds a bit of a challenge, but at Junior Eurovision it seems to be less of an issue since there’s less songs. If not a win, it will be close.

Struggling at adult Eurovision, Poland always comes up with something good at Junior Eurovision. Sara has a strong, yet still childish voice, very suitable for the competition. And also a contemporary song with the uniqueness of the Polish language incorporated. .
Performance + Act
It’s hard to tell how Poland will stage their entry, but we have seen in their past performances at Junior Eurovision that they know what they are doing in this area. This song offers a lot of room for visual aspects in the clothing, stage and backings to give the entry just something extra to make it even more memorable, apart from the good vocals.
Conclusions
Poland is a contender for victory again at Junior Eurovision 2021. I can’t see Sara messing this up. The song is not super difficult and has been made so that she can make her good vocals stand out. Combined with the Polish history of staging their acts right, I have high hopes for them again.
